On a crisp autumnal Thursday evening in November, The Gateway, which lies right in the heart of Yeovil town center, played host to the ever growing annual Yeovil District Hospital iCare awards ceremony.
Claire’s Catering was proud to work alongside Megan, Amy and Simon from the YDH to produce a dinner and dance function for over 300 colleagues, nurses and executives from our local hospital.
Claire and the event organizers had been busy for a number weeks leading up to the event, ensuring every detail was covered. The Claire’s Catering kitchen team, led by Head Chef Caroline, were incredibly focused on planning and executing an utterly remarkable menu for the night.
On-site preparations started on the Wednesday evening for our bar team, setting up one of our stand alone mobile bars and rearranging some of the venue’s furniture (always fun!). Throughout the day of the event one of our managers, Becky was on site and tasked with checking in our deliveries of kitchen equipment, glasses, linen, tables, cutlery, crockery and everything else imaginable – polishing 320 sets of cutlery was a small mission in itself!
After 8 hours and many, many volunteering hands from the hospital and the Claire’s Catering team, The Gateway conference room was transformed to a vibrant purple and gold luxury Gala Dinner Hall.
The guests arrived to a champagne reception and sat down to sharing platters of Italian Anitpasti– what a great way to get the guests involved and create a buzz.
Wine flowed, laughter filled the room, award winners were cheered and after the main course was served the dance floor was packed! The lights went up around midnight and carriages took home the weary dancers.
Clearing up can always be a deflating task, however the next day and bright as a button the events team were in full swing, packing up the tables and finding the right owners for the belongings left behind…
Everyone exceeded expectations and the entire event was a real success - Fantastic job!
